Today, I saw Bif Naked in a body care shop on Robson Street. She came into the shop and got a little impatient because the Japanese girl working in the shop was a little slow because she had only just started.
Funny thing though... Bif doesn't really look the larger than life person that I thought she would be. Her makeup is impeccable.
For those of you unfamiliar with her, you can check out her website here.
I'm going to Vancouver today... I'm getting out of this city today... Yeah!
It's funny how one notices differences between their own country and others that they visit. Last weekend, I went to Seattle and found some quirky differences between there and my hometown in Canada. I thought that I would share these differences in signage with you...A Dead End in Seattle is a street that has No Exit in Victoria. In Victoria, we come to a 4-Way stop but in Seattle it's an All Way.If you usually park your car in a Small Car parking spot at the mall in Victoria, you would park in a Compact Car spot in Seattle.Anyway, the coffee maker is making spurting noises so I'd better run. (For those of you who know I don't drink coffee, I wanted to let you know that I having been using the office coffee maker to brew tea. Funny. It works without spilling the tea leaves into the pot...)If you have any interesting comparisons of culture or signage, won't you share them with us?
I went to see Serenity last night. Not only did I enjoy it but I came away with the feeling that Joss Whedon was making a statement about our modern society. In a way, I believe that he was making commentary on our society with it's meddling into the ways of nature all for the sake of human kind. We over-medicate people and destroy nature with little concern of the long-term effects on the planet and for the people that we're supposedly trying to help.A little off topic but I was watching a story the other day which mentioned that the number of people who have died from natural disasters in the world has skyrocketed within the last year. Does anyone else out there believe that our Earth has decided to fight back for all of the abuse that she has suffered? However, it could also just be an entertaining film created by the guy who created Buffy. Whatever the reason, if you are interested, go and see it. You won't be sorry.
I was just reading an entry to the newsblog portion of the Guardian online about complementary medicine and the controversies around it. I didn't know if I should feel angry at all because having had great success through complementary medicine to rid me of depression, I still think that people are just missing the point...
Let's face it. Neither conventional or complimentary medicines can actually really cure everything and complimentary doesn't promise that (unlike the assumption that conventional kind can). The difference is that complimentary medicine (and by this, I mean naturopathy and traditional chinese medicine) builds the immune system. A healthy immune system means less illness.
I don't know about you but I would prefer to have a healthy body by working hard to keep it nourished and balanced instead of overmedicating myself. I have done both and I prefer the non-medicated type.
I realize that it's been a long time since I sat down and posted anything but it just couldn't be helped. I really have just been lacking in ambition and in time and thus the long silence. I'm not totally sure that I have anything to say now either but I will at least give it a try.I moved home and have spent the last couple of weeks trying to unpack as well as reorganize my space. The trouble is that, over the past few days, I have been a little more than preoccupied with it and would prefer just not to come to the office instead staying at home to work on this seemingly neverending project. My annual holiday is coming up and I will be taking a month off. I had thought about travelling somewhere overseas but have decided that a month would be too little time to jet off across the world. Instead, I will stay in British Columbia, Canada and travel around to see people here. So far, I plan to hit Vancouver, Chilliwack, Vernon and Port Alberni/Tofino and there may be a few other places as well. It just depends on how my time goes as well as when I run out of money. As well, I will be heading to Seattle this weekend...I really am ready to be on holiday. I just cannot focus on things at the office and I find myself just a bit irritated by things...Anyway, I should finish this up now and actually post it. I hope that everyone is having a great day!
